Trinity Mission Nursing Home Business Analysis

Decent Essays
As a part of AC SPEAKS, I participated in a non-profit organization. For my organization I had the pleasure of working with some very kind people from the Trinity Mission Nursing Home. Me and the people I worked with helped the staff at the nursing home throw the residents a prom. We got decorations from the junior/senior prom that took place the weekend before. Along with some donations we were able to receive.
We helped set up by decorating the cafeteria in the nursing home, this involved the red carpet entrance and photo area for picture taking.

In the beginning, I elected to volunteer at Trinity Nursing Home since it was an atmosphere I missed. What started out a way to accumulate time for a class quickly turned into an anticipated encounter. Trinity homes offer mostly long-term care and also temporary amenities to a large percentage of older adults and illnesses. According to Trinity Homes Welcome page, they have operated since 1948 offering 24-hour care in a home-like setting. In addition, to around the clock care, specialized observation is available to 230 individuals.…

For my sixty hours of volunteer work I decided to volunteer at a Child Life Center which was in a poverty stricken area in Norfolk, Va. At the child life center my job as a volunteer was to assist the children with their homework, help the staff monitor the children on local field trips, as well as serve as a positive role model for the children. The experience I had at Park Place Child Life Center was one I will honestly never forget. Although I didn’t get any actual counseling experience, I was able to learn the ways that the non-profit organization received their funding, I was able to gain experience in working with the youth, and I was also able to make a positive impact on the lives of children who were considered “at-risk youth”. To go there every day and be able to see the change the children had in their behaviors and how much just some attention and affection from adults impacted their behaviors was honestly amazing.…

I was able to volunteer at a local bank that was sponsoring the Lake Park Elementary School for the holiday season. The school has over 300 underprivileged students between the ages of kindergarten and fifth grade. Most of the students at that school only have one meal per day. Along with other volunteers, I packaged bags that contained candy, toys, toiletries, a blanket, and a pair of athletic shoes. The bags were able to provide the children with goods that we often take for granted.…

Although, the story I intend to tell is who Anna really is, and what we have done for each other.…

It holds several events that allow many people to come and volunteer. Within my cooperative education placement, my supervisor expressed a desire to create and app for the company Ballet Creole. To show my gratitude for her and the time I spent at the studio, I designed several shots of what an app could possibly look like for them when they had the financials means for it. I presented the app to my supervisor and the Artistic Director, where it was met with much appreciation. Early on at my placement I had trouble understanding how an arts and culture non-profit made sense. Afterwards, I realized the impact it had on community members who loved what Ballet Creole had to offer.…
