Personal Narrative: Panther Paws For A Cause

Improved Essays
I’m Avery Kaufman and I participated in many activities this year like debate, basketball, Film Production, Charlar en Español, Paws for a Cause, the school musical, and Beta Tutoring. My narratives highlight basketball, debate, and Paws for a Cause. In the second quarter of the 2016-2017 school year, I was a part of the girls’ basketball team. On the team I was the starting center, and played with nine other girls. This was my first time being a part of a Pine Crest School sports team, and I thought that it was extremely fun and I would like to do it again next year. I liked being a part of a team and becoming closer to people that I was not friends with prior to joining the team. I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the basketball team, even though we did not make it to the championship. We were not the best team, but together we had a lot of fun, became closer, and got better at the sport. In conclusion, I love to have experienced what it is like to be on a team, and make many new friends.

I did the debate club in the first, third, and fourth quarters after school on Wednesdays. I attended the weekly meetings except when I did basketball, I was not able to go. This was my first year doing debate, but I am extremely interested in it and I

I helped and taught kids how to pack bags with supplies for birthday parties. That Sunday was for many different charities, and families went around and help out them out. Since we had a table for my mom’s charity, I helped run the event. About an hour before the event we came to the area and set up the bags, frosting, cake mix, and the other supplies. Two of my friends helped me out, and my mom was there. I also did a dress-drive at school for the same charity, but that is a different time. I loved the Panther Paws for a Cause community service day, because it gets people excited to help out charities and there is so much that you can

As a senior captain, I was given the opportunity to visit the local elementary and middle schools throughout the year to coach and mentor girls that wanted to play basketball in high school. It occurred to me that I had been in their shoes not too long before. I remembered how much I admired the varsity team when I was a younger and how I would have done anything to be just like them. At this point, I realized that though it was still important to me to win games and advance towards the goal of a state title, I had been given the chance to be an example for these girls just as the previous varsity team had been for me; and that is what really…

I don’t think I can forget my public school years when I tried out for the basketball team. I had a tremendous interest in it due to the fact that my grandpa played nearly every weekend but I was not very good, and so I was cut from the team. So at Bristol Eastern, I wasn’t really given the chance to discover my true interest in basketball. But, at the Capital Prep School I was given that same chance and as a result, I have become quite skillful enough to sneak out a win against my grandfather who plays religiously at the park with his…

My mother always said that things happen for a reason. I believe that the reason I joined Key Club during my freshman year of high school was to lead me to my major, public relations. However, I quickly became engrossed in the organization, building my passion for serving others and eventually becoming club webmaster the following year. I routinely spent weeknights sorting clothes for clothing drives or passing out cans at local food banks, and my weekends were consumed with volunteering at charity 5k races.…
