In medical terminology the rights to nondiscrimination consists of accepting everyone equally. If a patient has diabetes or dementia, everyone should be treated equally no mater what his or her circumstances may be. This leads to the relationship developed between a patient and caregiver, which are based on the quality of care received. In a nursing home patients undergo situations such as getting abused and feeling neglected. In order to prevent such things from happening a caregiver should be ready to attend to the patient 24/7, check the patient’s safeness, and listen and communicate with them. Lastly, a patient right to privacy and confidentiality refers to things such as; who can have access to their medical records and caregivers knocking on the door before entering. Patient’s rights are what give patients a platform in a nursing home. I know that if I were ever to be in a nursing home id want to be able to do as I please since it is now my home but to also keep in mind that something’s I cannot do. I have to give respect in order to get respect. I feel that if patient’s rights were not developed there would a sense of hopelessness in a nursing home.
