Chapter 2 Chern’s is a company that values its employees. They offer full support of their store and department managers. Their commitment to family extends to their desire to make every employee feel valued and cared for. Chern’s is known for its strong and unique culture which they feel stems from hiring good people, training them, and allowing them the freedom to perform. They reward them with high salaries and bonuses for their exceptional effort.

At the same time, they will need to branch out from their referral type of hiring and seek out the most qualified applicants. Some of which will already be employed elsewhere. Using social media, and online search engines to display strategic ads depicting their success, and their desire to attain the best, and how they will take care of them like family will ultimately draw in the fresh talent. Nine Elements of the Staffing Strategy: Chern’s will maintain its direction of a core workforce, to benefit their overall company goals, but will also keep in mind the benefits of being flexible with all employees about hours and time off to spend with family.
They will continue to hire within as much as possible, moving qualified employees up into positions of management. This will reinforce their customer service goals. They will also look outside to bring in more entry level sales associates and train for future advancements.
With the goals of hiring so many employees each year for the next five years, they may be faced with hiring to train the skills required. They already have a great training program established in which to place new candidates.
With customer service their focus, retaining employees for a long time is necessary. They definitely want to retain as much of the talent as they can. They also consider their employees to be family, and would want to retain them if
