Introduction: Many people can describe themselves as a animal lover. Maybe they are animal lovers when it comes to a family pet like a dog, cat, or horse. But shouldn’t animal lovers love all animals? What about other animals such as rats, mice, or rabbits. A animal lover should love all animals, no matter what they are. So, if someone is truly an animal lover why would they allow cosmetic testing to happen? Cosmetic testing is extremely harmful ,and anyone that has even claimed to love animals should not support it in any way.
Body Paragraph 1: Cosmetic testing has caused death and injury to animals. It is estimated that thousands of mice, guinea pigs, and rabbits suffer, and die in cosmetic testing every year in the U.S alone (Cosmetic Test That 1). Animals that undergo these tests experience great amounts of pain. In these tests a variety of things can happen to these animals, from having their skin burned off, to being forced to breath in toxic fumes (Experiments on animals 1). Even before the afflicting testing process, animals are treated poorly. Animals are stuck in cages, where they are immobilized, and isolated for hours. When animals are isolated and deprived of having natural conditions they can be psychologically traumatized. (Experiments on animals 1). When animals begin the testing process pain relief is rarely provided and animals are always killed at the end of each test, even if they survive (Cosmetic tests that 1). These animals are treated as nothing but disposable laboratory equipment. Yet, cosmetic testing is still happening in many places. Body Paragraph 2: According to the Humane Society International, cosmetic testing is still legal in eighty percent of the world (Cosmetic Test That 1).

But, there are ways to stop cosmetic testing on animals. The University of Liverpool suggest that protozoa may be the key to cruelty free cosmetics. According to ecologist David Montages, protozoa, the cheap and abundant single celled organism, has enough genes in common with humans to make them good trial subjects. With the use of this organism it would be cheaper to conduct tests, and tests would have better results than with using animals (Zuckermar 1). However, many cosmetic companies still choose to use animals when testing their cosmetics. Pew Research Center found that fifty percent of all U.S adults oppose animals being used in any type of scientific tests, or research (“Cosmetic Tests That”1). So many people don’t want animal testing to happen, but so many companies do it. But even worse, people support it by buying the products that have been tested on animals. There are many companies that don’t use animals to test their cosmetics that have as good of quality as the ones that do. If many people stop buying products that are animal tested companies will eventually have to stop using animals for cosmetic testing. Companies will result to using another way to see if there products are safe if this happens (Cole 1). Body Paragraph Counterargument TA: Some may argue that without using animals for cosmetic testing there will be no way to see if products are safe. However, animal testing does not always provide reliable results. The food and drug administration (FDA), noted that ninety two percent of all things tested on animals fail in human trials (“Animal Testing is” 1). Most of the time products

So, rather than seeing if perfume irritates a bunny rabbit 's eyes, they should throw it in Charles Manson 's eyes and ask him if it hurts,” said comedian Ellen DeGeneres in My Point... And I Do Have One, her humorous reflection on her life. Though Ellen DeGeneres makes a hyperbolic point, she questions the ethicality of animal testing.…

This quote explains animal testing perfectly; “Many cosmetic companies test their new products and ingredients by forcing rabbits, hamsters, and mice, among others, to endure horrific practices such as breathing in poisonous fumes or having lethal chemicals poured into their eyes and rubbed into their skin”(Natasha Cole, Cruelty Free Cosmetics). Many supporters of animal testing will argue that it can have positive outcomes, however, humanity uses it in vain ways. This makes it especially wrong because humans are treating animals cruelly and inhumanely mostly to look attractive. Continuing on about cosmetic testing on animals: “Animal testing for cosmetics is an outdated practice and does not provide the most reliable results regarding the safety, performance, or possible reactions that cosmetic products or ingredients could have in a person” (Natasha Cole, Cruelty Free Cosmetics). The reason to continue these means of testing on animals proves to be no longer relevant because easier and more reliable ways of testing do indeed exist.…
