April 14, 2016 The United States has had guns Since the Beginning. The people of the United States won their country with the assistance of guns. The people of the United States have used their gun in protecting themselves from harm. Today the United States has two groups of people those who want to put control on Guns and those who want to keep their guns. There are the people who do not want guns in the hand of every citizen and want to put controls on the ownerships of guns. Some of these people want to ban guns entirely. Yet there are also some citizens who want to keep guns in open use for the public. The debate is whether or not to allow United states …show more content…
Gun control supporters are supporting gun control to try and stop school shootings. Some of the biggest mass shootings that are helping to increase gun control support are “Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado; Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia; a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado; Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.”4 Because of these shooting the general populace of the United States have started to fear firearms more than they use to fear the weapons. These shooting also have caused an increase in states passing restrictions on guns. One of the aftereffects of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting some states have restricted the magazine size for semiautomatic guns.5 Gun control supporters believe that if the government were to take firearms away from the citizens of the United States of America, it would put an end to gun violence. What gun control supporters do not realize is that taking away firearms from law abiding citizens will not work. The law abiding citizens would not have guns to defend themselves, but the criminals will still find access to …show more content…
The Nation would not be here today if it were not for the fact that the people owned guns. This nation has fought for it 's freedom and rights. The people of American need to stand up and fight for those rights, including the right to Bear Arms. The debate between gun control supporters and anti-gun control is shaping the American culture and may last for years to come. The first step in the process is to understand what the founders intended with the Second Amendment. Firearms are a big part of society, and the people who own guns will not give them up willingly. Firearms are the cause of many violent crimes, but they also have saved a lot of people from criminals. Congressman Paul Gosar says that “We must remain vigilant and enforce all of our constitutional rights, not simply pick and choose the ones we like.”11 Government should not be allowed to make the decision about gun control.
