Essay On The Differences Between To Kill A Mockingbird Book And Movie

To Kill A Mockingbird is to many people the greatest American novel of all time. To Kill a Mockingbird was written by Harper Lee and published in the 1960’s, later in 1962 there was a movie released. Both became instant classics that are still being enjoyed 50 years later. In my opinion the book was better, however I still enjoyed watching the movie. There were three mains points from the movie to the book that stood out to me: the difference between the characters and the actors, and the characters they left out in the movie; the difference in scenes; and the similarities between the book and the movie. Overall although the book and the movie had some clear differences I still found that the message about race relations was the same.

One of the main differences from the book to the movie was the characters, and characters they left out of the movie. In the book it focuses more on Scout and Jem's

One of the most obvious similarities is that Scout narrates both as an older woman. Similar to the novel, in the film, when Scout and Jem meet Dill, he is very proud of the fact that he can read. Also, the subplot line is the same about Boo Radley , and how Dill, Jem and Scout are very interested in him in both the movie and book. Also in both the book and movie Scout, Jem, and Dill sneak onto the Radley property, and Jem loses his pants, and when he goes back his pants were neatly folded sitting there waiting for him.

The comparison between the book and movie revealed that although the the movie is based on the book they are very different. Three thing that stood out to me between the book and movie, are the difference between the characters and actors, the difference in scene, and the similarities between the book and the movie. The fact that To Kill a Mockingbird is still so relevant showed how powerful it is and how much we can learn from both the book and

How would you feel if you were approached at random in your own home to go to a place where each day you’d be fighting for your life? Well, this was what happened to Ender Wiggins. The movie To Kill a Mockingbird, based on the novel written by Harper Lee showed the life of a child during the Great Depression and captured the theme of innocence taken away by evil. In most cases the book is always better than the film because life lessons are taken away in greater detail and are much easier to apply to a reader's life. Many movies stray from the book as did To Kill a Mockingbird, but also captured the scenes not shown in the book. Unlike the book, the movie had taken away the relationship that Boo Radley had with the children. One part of the book which was not shown in the movie was Mrs. Maudie's house fire when Boo Radley had draped a blanket over Scout’s shoulders while Jem and Scout were standing in the cold.…

A few important character connections and details were in the book that were left out in the movie. In the book, for example, Kim and Mia’s relationship wasn’t as detailed in the movie. It didn’t show their fight like it did in the book and all of their childhood between the two seemed to be missing from the movie. Mia and Kim had some important things that occurred in their childhood which I thought was important and should have been included in the movie. Her grandparents also weren’t in the movie as much as they were in the book.…

Also later in the movie it showed how johnny and tyrone looked because it showed how johnny was lighter than explained in the book. Plus it shows how Lloyds life style looks when dave and LeAlan go to wake Lloyd up so they can start their interviewsfor that day. Another difference is how much violence is despayed in the movie like when LeAlan and Lloyd were walking down the street to see a friend or a homi and a car drove by with men shooting the guys on the street and how LeAlan and Lloyd were able to make it to safety and get out nof their as quick as they could. One major difference between the two is that the movie ends and leaves the audience in hope. While on the other hand, the book leaves the reader in great guilt and despair. Though the book sounds better than the movie it does have an edge by being able to show the hardship of discrimination amongst society. It really gives the audience a look on how group conformity is supporting the cause. Although, the book is more straightforward and has a cause and effect action, with the war being in effect.…

These pieces of work descended us into a larger understanding of what the term “The Holocaust” really means. In “The Landlady”, Billy Weaver is lured into a seemingly normal bed and breakfast by an old lady who, despite her gentle and unthreatening appearance, wants to kill him. It is a story about how those with cruel intent may take advantage of those who are innocent and naive. Although the book and the movie can be arguably similar if generalized, there are many differences that may change the way a reader/viewer may grasp the concept of the story. Since a movie and book cannot be exactly the same, the film version is bound to have things that differ from the text. One example of how the book develops the development of the story is with the setting.…
