Have you ever read To Kill a Mockingbird or a “Christmas Memory”? Well if not these two books are very interesting and recommend to read and here are some similarities and differences and some information that may persuade you into reading these stories. To kill a mockingbird was written by Harper Lee in 1960 and published on July 11. To Kill a Mockingbird takes place in Maycomb, Alabama during the Great Depression, and is narrated by the main character, a little girl named Jean Louise or as in the book she is known as “Scout”. Jean Louise's father is Atticus Finch, who is a lawyer with very high standards. Jean Louise also has a brother named Jem. Scout and Buddy are very similar because they are round characters, for example we learn many sides of Scouts Character in To Kill a Mockingbird such as her curiosity and compassion. We learn much about Buddy as well; such as he is very curious, but understanding also he is very loving towards his family and friends just like Scout was in To Kill a Mockingbird. Another similarity that is interesting is the both of these main characters are actually the narrator's in these two stories. There are many quotes in To Kill a Mockingbird that you can see that these books are written in first person. Scout uses pronouns and shows that she is telling the story herself for an example this quote that Scout says, “I was born good but had grown progressively worse every year.” The same concept is used in “A Christmas Memory,” for example Buddy says, “The person to whom she is speaking is myself, I am seven; she is sixty-something.”On the other hand these two stories are somewhat different; in To Kill a Mockingbird Scout is a six years old girl, and in the story a Christmas memory Buddy is a seven year old boy. These two books are actually completely different In a way because To Kill a Mockingbird the story is a fiction story and a Christmas Memory is a nonfiction story. To Kill a Mockingbird there are many similarities between the novel and Lee’s life. The book takes place in Maycomb, Alabama, the fictional name for Monroeville, where Lee grew up. Also the main character Scout was just like Lee a tomboy that was never comfortable with being feminine. Lee and Scout would have been the same age and her brother four years older, like Scout's brother Jem. Lee also gave the family her mother's maiden name, Finch. A Christmas Memory is a nonfiction story based on a found flashback of Truman Capote's. A distance relative of Truman's whose name is Sook Faulk took care of him through his
