Simulations teach residents management of critically ill patients, treatment algorithms, and team leadership skills. Procedure labs are given throughout the residency to teach he procedural skills that residents get during clinical practice. Clinical practice gives a variety of services that teach skills essential to the practice of Emergency Medicine. These services include Advanced Life Saving, Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Burn Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Trauma Surgery, Radiology and Ultrasound, and Surgical Intensive Care Unit. To apply for this program one must have a degree from an accredited PA program, a current NCCPA certification, Iowa state licensure, official PA School Transcripts, and three letters of recommendation (University of Iowa Health Care).
