When compared to jobs, it is more desirable to have a set career than a temporary job. Yeshi Dhonden is a doctor and priest in “The Surgeon as Priest.” At first, Selzer believed that the work Dhonden was performing on a woman was odd. Selzer was skeptical his work, but then he saw what Dhonden could do with his “gift of beauty and holiness” (Selzer 203). Dhonden was able to do much more with both the career of a priest and a surgeon. His job, however, is to use those skills learned throughout his career and cure the people from their illnesses.
Both careers and jobs may have a few similarities, but they serve different purposes throughout one’s lifetime. There are those who would rather settle for a job than struggling to find the right career. Jobs offer opportunities that can be accomplished by average people to show their productive work while careers take individuals with passion willing to dedicate most of their time for one goal. The choices that people take to fulfill their needs will affect them in the long run. Whether one chooses to have a career or a job, they will find what suits them to benefit from
