A career is an occupation for a certain period of time of a person’s working life. You may have multiple careers during your life depending on your interests and skills. Three jobs that I am interested in are physical therapy, sports medicine and veterinarian. I chose these careers because they are really interesting and they benefit other people and even animals. Physical therapists (PT) are professionals that work on the rehabilitation of patients of all ages and teach their patients how to manage their condition. In order for physical therapists to practice they must have earned a graduate degree from accredited academic programs in physical therapy. To be a sports medicine physician you must earn a Bachelor’s degree, graduate from Medical School, earn a medical license, and complete a Residency and a Fellowship. Some opportunities for experienced sports medicine physicians and related occupations are athletic trainer, medical physician, dietitian/sports nutritionist, personal trainer, etc. Some of the daily tasks for sports medicine physicians are to diagnose and treat disorders of the musculoskeletal system, record the athlete’s information, supervise rehabilitation of the patient, inform athletes about the importance of nutrition and others. The requirement to be a veterinarian is to earn a Doctoral or professional degree. Opportunities for experienced veterinarians are for research (private laboratory research), education (teachers at universities), public health and regulatory medicine. Related jobs are animal care and service worker, medical scientist, veterinary assistant, laboratory caretakers and zoologists. The methods of entry into this field are at least 2-year degree (usually an Associate’s degree) from a Veterinary Technology Program, pass a credentialing exam in you state, and receive a passing score on the VTNE in order to use the title of Certified Veterinary Technician. Employment of veterinarians is projected to grow 12 percent from 2012 to 2022. The median annual pay for veterinarians is $84.460 and a 35% more during a 10-year period. And the daily tasks for veterinarians are to examine animals to diagnose their health problem, treat injuries or wounds, and prescribe medications. The career I would most likely pursue would be physical therapy. I like physical therapy the most because I think helping disabled people to walk again or finally accomplish something they wanted to do for many years through rehabilitation would be really amazing. This job also may be exhausting but it would be worth it, not to mention that it has a good
