Sold. A four letter word that can give you a whole world of trouble. Packing, living in a maze of boxes, unpacking, packing again, living in a showcase home, packing, unpacking, packing, and moving house. It was in August 2016 when we first decided to sell our East Brighton home. Mum and Dad wanted us to be closer to school, so that we would not be required to wake up at 6:30am each morning, leave the house at 7:00am, and drive for 45 minutes to an hour each morning. My poor mum had to drive over than 3 hours a day just to take us to and from school! After all the trouble of finding an agent, packing all of our belongings, and transforming our house into a showcase home, the auction could begin. Once we had finally sold our home, we had a large problem to solve. Where would we live now?

Mum and Dad started frantically searching for houses for sale around school. Almost every afternoon, Mum and Dad would drag us off to see a house that they hoped would suit us, but it was no use. No matter how hard they tried, how long they spent researching, or how many houses we went to inspect, the perfect property would not show up. But then, one day, the perfect house showed up. We had found a property with two houses on the one block; an ancient, brick, three-bedroom house at the front, and a not-so-ancient, one-bedroom granny-flat. The property was perfect, so we bought it. It was walking distance from school, was close to parks, was located on a nice, quiet street, and was close to a few of our friend’s houses.
