Cruelty is the causing of pain and suffering. Animal cruelty is a nationwide problem that seems to be growing rapidly by the second. Everyday animals are being beaten and mistreated by their heartless owners. To grow together, we must fight for their rights and punish those who bring them such pain and agony. Unfortunately, animal cruelty occurs very frequently around the world due to the victims not having a voice. First of all, there are two cruelty categories; passive and active. The first, passive cruelty, meaning this abuse is created from neglect or lack of action by the owner. This doesn't necessarily mean it should be taken less serious because it can cause great pain that can lead to death. This type of cruelty is most constructed by the ignorance of the owner. There are plenty of everyday activities that people all across the world can do. Being the easiest is to simply just love and care for your pets while giving others a great example to look up to. Another easy approach to consider is to volunteering at local animal shelters to help take care of animals. It doesn't necessarily mean to spend all your day there, but a couple of hours a week can help tremendously. Last, a more effective strategy is to hang up posters all around your community and most importantly, write letters to your lawmakers. By reaching out to them and addressing how serious this issue is, can help enormously and beneficially make a change in society. In conclusion, it is our job to stand up for creatures who can't speak up for themselves. All living things have the right to live on this planet. As a nation it should be our first priority to help get rid of animal cruelty. Most importantly to reduce life's being lost of those helpless creatures.
