Any kind of animal abuse can and sometimes leads to the animal dying. According to the article 11 Facts about Animal Abuse, “Thousands of greyhounds die each year—some in the name of “selective breeding”—before they ever touch a racetrack. Many dogs do not make it to the nominal “retirement” age of 4 or 5” Proving that being overworked it a type of abuse, not getting enough nutrients as well. The end result is usually death. One website wrote an article on animal abuse that shows how badly affected the animals abused were left. The website wrote, “Louis, who was consistently chained up was beaten, sprayed with lighter fluid and set alight by Juan Daniels. This was his mother's dog.” The article then goes on to talk about how the dog can no longer grow fur, and has some showing pieces of flesh on its body now. One article that comes from the same website, Animal Cruelty Syndrome, shows different animal abuse cases and how many years someone has spent in jail for abusing the animal. “On January 22, 2010, Brunette was sentenced to a year in county jail and five years probation during which time he is to have no dogs. He is required to participate in mental health treatment and must pay over $100,000 in restitution to Santa Cruz County Animal Services. On Friday, December 11, 2009, a jury found Brunette guilty on all 10 counts of animal cruelty – two felonies and eight misdemeanors.” This paragraph shows that abusing animal will not only send you to jail, but also require you to pay fines for the animal and your mental health. Sometimes, when a child sees an adult being violent towards an animal, they tend to do the same thing when older.
