Purpose Statement
The purpose of this research paper is to discuss animal rights and what animals right activist ideology fight for which includes animal abuse, abandonment, experimentation, and laws that prevent inhuman actions towards animals.

Animal rights is the idea in which all animals have the right to their life and their most basic interest, like avoiding pain and suffering. Many of these didn’t include animals used in experiments. The first Humane Societies and Societies for the Protection of Animals were formed in the 1860s to run animal shelters and to promote animal cruelty laws. Henry Bergh was a wealthy diplomat, and after observing Britain's RSPCA he wanted to create a similar organization in America. So he wrote the Declaration of the rights of Animals, this appealed to many new yorkers. This formed the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on April 10, 1866. After this similar organizations sprung up. This was the beginning of the animal welfare movement.
Animal Abuse “Animal cruelty, also known as animal abuse, is legally defined as any act of violence or neglect that inflicts suffering or death on an animal.(Animal Cruelty)” There are many types of abuse like active or intentional abuse abuse which includes torture, beating, mutilation, poisoning, shooting, confinement, unhealthy enclosure, and blood sport. Then there is passive or neglectful abuse which is failing to provide right treatment to the animal. “Animal cruelty affects many kinds of animals and can occur anywhere.(Preventing Animal Cruelty)” So many people take their time to stop animal cruelty around the world.

“Animals have been used in scientific testing for thousands of years.(Animal Testing) This means that animal testing has been done for science since the Greek Era. “The Humane Society of the United States estimates that more than twenty-five million animals are used in scientific testing and research each year.(Animal Testing)” The experiments used on the animals include injecting or forcing animals to eat potentially harmful substances, exposing them to radiation, and destroying or removing organs deliberately. “This is known as Vivisection originally meant the dissection of a live animal, usually for the purpose of teaching or research.(Vivisection)” Making them inhale toxins, and creating horrible situations for the animals.
