Adaptable Leader Self Analysis

I find that, for me, the personality element within the Right to Lead Model is the most important concept within Module 5, Adaptable Leader. Personality seems to be the most important concept within said model, and the lesson in general, because personality shapes how everything we communicate is perceived by others. This means that every other one of your leadership qualities rely on you having a positive personality in order for you to be effective. Without a well-received personality, even if you are highly skilled in your field and act as a model leader, you will be perceived poorly and everything you do will be tainted. This would cause subordinates, coworkers, and supervisors to avoid dealing with you. Your coworkers would not put forth the effort to assist you, and your leadership would rate you poorly. I also found this concept to be the most important in the lesson after reading that a likable personality requires you to value …show more content…
When it comes to subordinates, practicing positive personality skills would grow their trust in my technical ability, my work ethic, and my leadership traits since I will be able to relate these parts of myself in a positive light. As for my peers and coworkers, creating a strong, positive connection would allow me to receive expedient and enthusiastic assistance with work and personal tasks that require contributions from outside elements. Connections within the unit would speed up time-consuming tasks and involve individuals in projects that they may otherwise avoid. This would benefit my supervisory chain as well, as project milestones would be completed ahead of schedule. Also, new options would be open to my supervision, as my connections would create new opportunities to accomplish tasks that were previously thought too difficult; either due to lack of process knowledge or due to previously non-collaborative

As an adult I still play competitively and for the last 15 years have coached at the University and High School levels and I have found that truly investing in the success of others is a daily necessity. Teamwork is vital and having a collective objective is the basis for being a Transformational Leader; motivating subordinates using the common goal through, encouragement, support and respect to achieve the desired result is the ultimate target. The concept from course 15 module five that I found most important is trust. According to course 15 trust can be broken down into three levels, those are respect, confidence, and commitment. Trust is a component of the Right to Lead Module (RALM). It differs from the other elements of RALM in that it is difficult to measure, it develops over time, and it is extremely easy to lose. Trust is critical to the success of a leader, and at the same time built by the process of leadership.…

Not only was this assignment interesting, but extremely informative, as well. While I have always known my personality type from Myers-Briggs, I had never actually sat down and analyzed much of it or even my leadership skills, for that matter. As for my leadership skills, they have always been lacking, as I tend to be a pleaser as opposed to being one that feels comfortable having control – it is intimidating and daunting to me. Nevertheless, this is not to be an assessment, but rather an evaluation and here are the results I have found.…

Leadership Self-Assessment Leadership opportunities present themselves in many ways. Throughout my career, I have assumed leadership roles by overseeing coworkers and training new employees in the intensive care unit (ICU). My leadership style follows the democratic style because I value input from others before making decisions (Davis, 2018). Supplementing the democratic style with a results-driven approach is essential to achieve the best results. As stated by Ulrich, Zenger, and Smallwood (1999), the value of a leader should be determined by results, not only by their qualities and characteristics.…

The purpose of this paper is to summarize my findings from Project 2 of this course. To begin my work on Project 2, I completed a variety of personality assessments through the McGraw-Hill Connect website. Through these assessments, I was able to gain valuable insights about myself, my ability to work with others, and my experiences and needs in an organizational setting. In general, I learned that I should strive to be more extroverted and friendly with my co-workers in order to improve my organizational behavior. Specifically, I concluded that I should look for ways to improve my verbal communication and take more of a leadership role in my company.…

After being employed for four years as a direct support specialist in a group home, the opportunity to be promoted to team leader presented itself. I cautiously researched the extent of the job tasks, duties, and responsibilities and weighed them to that of my abilities. It took very little time to quickly recognize some areas that would prove to be a challenge for me, as I had very little computer experience and most of the required duties of a team leader were monthly electronic client records and logs. I was also required to be on call for at least one week and one weekend per month.…

“So you, as a leader, must manage these conflicting role expectations with communication and compromise” (G. Lumsden, D. Lumsden & Wiethoff, 2010, pg. 264). The role of leader influences your personality in regards to making you a more independent-minded individual. “They proposed that leaders possessed certain personality traits courage, decisiveness, intelligence, attractiveness, and so on that made them intrinsically followable, bureaucracy be damned” (Rothman, 2016, pg. 66).
