Right To Lead Module (RALM)

The concept from course 15 module five that I found most important is trust. According to course 15 trust can be broken down into three levels, those are respect, confidence, and commitment. Trust is a component of the Right to Lead Module (RALM). It differs from the other elements of RALM in that it is difficult to measure, it develops over time, and it is extremely easy to lose. Trust is critical to the success of a leader, and at the same time built by the process of leadership. The reasons I feel it is most important is because you absolutely cannot lead without some aspect of trust. You can convince anyone to follow you if they do not believe your direction can positively impact the organization or its people. A leader not fostering an environment of trust can face severe consequences. If you do not apply the concepts of trust you will lose, or never earn, the commitment from your followers. By positively impacting the lives of my people, and my organization I can slowly start earning the commitment from my subordinates. By getting them to “buy into” my vision they will be better able to contribute to the unit. I will gain the confidence from my supervisors and peers by properly executing the mission, making good decisions, and through positive interactions. Over time, I will gradually gain the respect of my supervisors, peers and subordinates not just because of my rank, but because of my individual achievements and actions. The overall effect of applying the concept of trust will be increased effectiveness. My supervisors will be able to give me more challenging tasks, and know that they will be accomplished. My peers will know they can rely on me to hold my weight. My subordinates will have faith in my decisions as a leader. Making them more capable
