Verbal Communication Self Reflection

The purpose of this paper is to summarize my findings from Project 2 of this course. To begin my work on Project 2, I completed a variety of personality assessments through the McGraw-Hill Connect website. Through these assessments, I was able to gain valuable insights about myself, my ability to work with others, and my experiences and needs in an organizational setting. In general, I learned that I should strive to be more extroverted and friendly with my co-workers in order to improve my organizational behavior. Specifically, I concluded that I should look for ways to improve my verbal communication and take more of a leadership role in my company. Although this project showed me that I have a number of personal weaknesses such as being overly introverted, I believe that God can transform me and help me to overcome my flaws to be a bold advocate for His truth. …show more content…
First, I will look for ways to strengthen my verbal communication. Verbal communication is generally the richest means of conveying information to others (Presentation: Lesson 5 – Organizational communication, 2017). Therefore, I believe it is important for me to address any weaknesses that I have with verbal communication. As noted previously, my verbal communication can be a weakness since I have the tendency to speak too rapidly and to lack vocal confidence. To correct this, I plan to look for additional opportunities to speak in group settings so that I can practice correcting these issues in uncomfortable situations. Additionally, I plan to seek more leadership opportunities at my job. This project helped me to realize that the opportunity to lead can be a motivating factor for me. In my work, my supervisors appreciate when the employees under them take initiative and take leadership during our work.
