During the war years thousands of propaganda films were produced in Hollywood under the OWI’s supervision. The films were informing the public about the World War II and American mission in it; they were motivating Americans to fight. In my research paper I will be analyzing the biggest World War II propaganda films, their political and racial context. Soon after its establishment, OWI issued numerous of guidelines to follow. The guidelines made hundreds of pages when printed in books, which Hollywood executives needed to study. Most of the films had no problems following the rules. The wartime titles and plots relied on narrow, one-sided understandings of the subject and had stereotypical characters. The Motion Picture Industry retained its morals and remained optimistic during the war years.
