For people who suffer with MS, or multiple sclerosis, video games have been a huge part of regaining their balance. There are no drugs to help victims with their balance, and some tested drugs actually make matters worse. Researchers and scientists are constantly looking for new ways to help patients with multiple sclerosis, and they have found a buffer in video games such as Wii, Wii Fit, and XBOX Live. Health Day states, “It appears that patients who use the Wii Balance Board five days a week -- moving to snowboarding or dance games, for example -- may help reduce their risk of falls and boost certain brain connections.” They say that this might be because they are coordinating their movements with an avatar, but they know one thing: it works.
