    Munich, a team who won the treble 2 years before Barcelona, with one of the best squads in the world under the helm of Pep Guardiola, lauded as one of the best coaches in history of the modern game. Real Madrid however, despite their poor form in mid-season, is fair to say drew much easier opponents in Wolfsburg and Manchester City on the road to final. The only notable challenge and triumph for Real Madrid was suffering from two goals deficit against Wolfsburg in the first leg of the tie of quarter finals in Germany and then proceeding to scoring three goals to take control of the tie in Barnebeu in second leg which showed real character and winning mentality of the Los Blancos. As the stage was set for yet another all Madrid UEFA Champions League final, Atletico Madrid seemed favorites having beaten Barcelona and Bayern Munich, who were the favorites to win the competition at the start of the season. However, as the game kicked off, Real Madrid seemed extremely comfortable in the game and nicked a goal in set piece with a brilliant headed flick by Gareth Bale to Sergio Ramos, who got himself in the score sheet with great positioning and movement. 1-0, game on.
