    in reading text with more complexity. Moreover in math, I believe my goal ended up overshot. The Investigations unit allowed the students new challenges in math. The students succeeded with the new tasks. The students were actually disappointed when they had to stop playing the games. My mentor also planned one center to have a familiar game so that students were not overwhelmed with new concepts. It ended as a success due to the students attempted making word problems with the familiar games and justifying their answers. However, on Friday, my mentor left challenging work for all centers. I did not foresee any issues. Then my last group came to my table and they were playing Toss the Chips with nine chips to find new combinations of red and yellow chips to make a total of nine. The students were working hard. I was focused with helping one student when I saw one student throw his head onto the table and start crying. For this student, it was completely out of character. I called him over to me and gave him a hug and asked why he did that. He said “I was frustrated because it is hard”. I had to send him to the clinic because he hit his head so hard. But I felt so bad for him. This incident has allowed me to see how challenges can help and hinder students. Most students needed the challenge.
