Organizational Structure Problem

In today 's complex business environment managers and employees face many obstacles relating to working in groups on assigned projects in order to complete those projects that ultimately contribute to the bottom line, or enables the company to remain a competitive force within their assigned industry. There are many reasons as to why groups experience conflict but one business I want to highlight refers to conflict within the organizational structure. "Good introductory paragraph

According to Robbins and Judge (2009), organizational structure explains how job tasks are formally divided, grouped, and coordinated (pg. 519). When we take a look at this definition we can all assume that structure

Robbins and Judge 2009 comment that bureaucracy refers to specialization and employees following specified rules and a regulation within their designated departments and the decision-making process relies on the chain of command, a centralization approach (pg. 527). Our text points out a problem with bureaucracy in relation to group theory whereby there is an obsessive concern for following the rules (pg. 528). This issue is important to highlight because working within groups or within an organization if the leader or manager is obsessed with following the rules it will leave no opportunities to think outside of the box and stunts inspirational innovation to solving complex problems. These actions can cause a shut down of the group whereby decision making would become rigid or, a worst case scenario, no decisions would be made to fix any problems or complete any projects the organization undertakes. For instance, to relate this concept to a military perspective, I work in the Finance department. In my department, we not only execute pay operations but we also must prepare our Soldiers to deploy when the nation calls. One part of our preparation relates to ensuring Soldiers are qualified on their assigned weapons. During one planning event I was in a meeting with my supervisor, or First Sergeant, and my peers, or fellow Staff Sergeants, were planning our annual weapons …show more content…
In conclusion, I think that people should be open to changes. The world that we live in has changed so much that if you are not catching up to the changes in technology you will be left behind. We all need structure in our lives and in any organization because without structure any organization will be lost. I think that it is also good to have rules and regulations so that people will have some guidance and what needs to be done within an organization because if you have no structure or rules within an organization everyone will want to be their own boss and come in when they want too. It is good to have someone that is a head of an organization because it gives us guidance and
