• Conflict in the Company is evident due to a lack of guidance from senior management. We see conflict between managers which will eventually lead to poor efficiency in the Company.

Bad Management Practices
• Multi Projects is a consulting company in project management. The company operates on a Matrix type organisation, but there seems to be bad management practises between the different project managers.

Dual reporting relationships
• Tyler Bonilla currently reports into Jennifer Fernandez administratively as his functional manager and Julie Capriolo as his temporary project manager. This has caused anxiety and conflict over Tyler’s work priorities.

1. Why is Jeff so anxious to get started on the Growin project?

• Jeff is anxious to get started with Growin Project as he hasn’t proved himself in the organization yet. He has been assigned as the project manager for Growin Projects and wants to make a success of the project but is not looking at the bigger organizational picture and the need to deliver all projects effectively and efficiently. He is putting his success over the success of the Company.

2. What is wrong with Jeff’s approach to handling this situation?
Jeff is putting his needs ahead of the needs of the organization.
3. What should Jennifer do to resolve this situation?
Jennifer must have a meeting with Jeff, Tyler and Julie to discuss the matter. The following should be discussed:

• What impact will it have on the Goodold Company project if Tyler is withdrawn.
• How will the customer (Goodold Company) respond if Tyler is withdrawn.
• How will this change affect the image of the Multi Projects.
• Can Tyler make time to be still visible on the Growing Corporation project.
