McGregor’s Theory Y supports the integrity of the desire of an individual to work as a basic activity of life (Kreitner and Kinicki, 2013). The potential work environment someone finds themselves in can be either extremely rewarding or significantly painful or possibly somewhere in between. The effectiveness of any organization can be correlated to the quality of the employed personnel (Little and Miller, 2007). Person-organization fit theory supports the basic concept that like minded individuals and like minded organizations seem to be drawn toward each other (Little and Miller, 2007). Therefore consideration for working at Whole Foods will be driven by factors that will strike the potential employee’s fancy. Three factors in particular seem to stand out for this organization. …show more content…
This selection places validity upon the company’s willingness to invest in the continued growth of their employees personally and professionally. It is noted that only 13 companies have made the list every year (Great Place to Work, n.d.). This is a critical finding for it speaks to the work environment from the employees perspective.

The second aspect that makes working for Whole Foods appealing is expansion of the ideation that employees are allowed to grow both professionally and personally (Great Place to Work, n.d.). Whole Foods has embraced the aspect of improving the human capital that each employee brings as a team member and stakeholder in the company. Because Whole Foods desires for the team member to have the freedom to let individuality be manifest, the aspect of Theory Y of self direction can be achieved because of collective commitment to the objectives(Kreitner and Kinicki,
