While I worked up there I got to see how big parts of this valley still are, I worked on a ranch that was on the way to Sopris mountain. There were times when I got to see all these elk in a group of what I may have guessed to be about 50 elk. Up to that point I’ve only seen deer or bears never these huge elk. There was 2 weeks where all I did was just pick up 60-80 lbs. hay bales and toss them into a 3500 dually flatbed. I was relatively fit where i could pick up the bales easily but after about 100 my shoulder were numb and the heat was getting to me. To make it even worse I wore a short sleeve shirt which meant my forearms were all scratched up and almost bleeding from the dry straw. Each row had given or take a hundred bales and each bales would take me like 5 seconds to get on the truck. I did this for 8 hours a day for 2 weeks. I got really tough by the end of it and made me realize how easy somethings are in life. I had never eaten so much after work then those 2 weeks in my
