When we got close to Abelin the trees got shorter and shorter. It was so cool to watch the height of the trees go down because we crossed a beautiful river when I could see the trees go down.

Pennybacker, she discussed the life of Anna Hardwick and her contribution to the progression of teaching in Texas and the progression of women 's rights worldwide. Essay On Father Of Texas

    • 838 Words
    • 4 Pages

As a native Texan it may seem a bit blasphemy to call into question the moniker of Stephen F. Austin as “The Father of Texas”. Austin is created with the first 300 Anglo Settlers to Texas and considered one of the greatest heroes of the Texas Revolution. It is difficult to envision a historical textbook without folkloric passages about the deeds of Stephen F. Austin and how he shaped the history of Texas from a Spanish Colony to American Statehood. While Sam Houston proclaimed that “The Father of Texas is no more!” upon the news of Stephen F. Austin’s death; general sentiment of the republic did not champion this rally cry.…

Here I am in Alamo, surrounded by thousands in the Mexican army of Santa Anna. We are desperately waiting for reinforcements; however, I fear that we may not be able to hold out long enough for there to be anything to reinforce. Neverthless, I am not discouraged. I am fighting for Texan independence. First of all, as an American who appreciate freedom, I find no favor with the tyranny and dictatorship of the leader of Mexico, Santa Anna.…

I believe Texas wouldn’t even make it in a week they would need a lot of help in every way possible, financially, with the military or army, with their own currencies, and with political loss. If Texas even tried to become its own country they will lose money, no citizens would get any help from the government and some families would starve to death, they might lose jobs even people for example some immigrants help us financially and if they see a big change they would either move to a different state from the United States, or they would go back to their own country. Some companies or business people could lose their customers because of this, a lot of people only like to deal with people from the United States, but the moment they see Texas…

It was the first day of my second year in Tomball ISD. I walked into my second period, Texas History, with a Mrs. Brough. At first glance, Mrs. Brough seemed to be a little too excited and the state of her desk with several coffee mugs seemed suspicious. It was in this unorganized classroom and with this giddy teacher that I found my love of history. Mrs. Brough was a short and stout woman who never stopped smiling.…

Have you ever yearned for a life changing experience that would leave you breathless, but never got the chance to actually obtain one? Many people use school as their way to explore the outside world and acquire life’s perspicacity. The Alamo is a vast, wondrous place for young advanced students, like me, to experience Texas history on another level; therefore, I believe I’m a very superb applicant for this trip. As a child I grew up in the marvelous sun flower state, Kansas, there I attended a very mundane school that never took field trips with educational purposes.…

    Essay On Texas Vacation

It was the summer of 2013, I went on a vacation to see my family in Mexico and to my unfortunate luck it was the worst summer ever! Not only did I got sick from eating food off the street stands and had to babysit my younger brother and take care of my mom as well, I was unfortunate enough to be hit by a drunk driver at a party. I should have known it wasn’t going to be a good year because before leaving we didn’t get plane tickets so we drove there, the car didn’t have a/c, and we got stuck in traffic twice. The ride alone was terrible for the most part; it’s summer and in Texas the weather was gruesome. I remember the first time we were in traffic in Louisiana I thought I was going to lose it, we made little progress in what would have been a two minute, one mile drive, it took us two hours to travel that one mile.…

Once the fifteen-day extension expired, I left the country to start the process all over again. The majority of the time, I took a bus to the border, crossed into Cambodia, and then turned right back around and re-entered Thailand.…
