Two and a half years ago, quite a few of the men in this dear town were sent on an expedition to inspect and map out the land that President Thomas Jefferson purchased. This mission was a success, despite what the people believe. I cannot lie, this journey was not easy; it was incredibly difficult, but it was worth the money you spent. We learned a lot that can help in the future, the reward we received is greater than the price you paid.

We departed with the tools that you generously gave to us and along the way to the Pacific, but we found other ways to make new tools and weapons. We made magnificent technological advancements, we have gained a lot from this trip.

When delving into history books, two prominent names stand out and are universally known. Those two names are Lewis and Clark. While both gentlemen have a background in the military, they are predominately known for their historic expedition along the Mississippi River to the Coast of Oregon in what is widely known as the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Their achievements would later be used to argue that the U.S owned the Pacific Northwest while the expedition also paved the way westward for American expansion into the Pacific (Miller, 2008, 4). As a result, Lewis and Clark played a pivotal role in providing scientific data and documentation that will remain forever relevant in the history of America.…

Roanoke was a perfect location to use as a base, so secluded that the Spaniards would be unable to locate it, and near the West Indies. This concept influenced the chosen colonist for this settlement. Veterans of the Irish or European wars were chosen for their experience, meaning they could protect the colony from any danger, but the colonists would be poor at building and maintaining relationships with each other and the Indians. Victims of England's labor system such as the servants or the children in poverty created a perfect “pool of colonists.” The first expedition left England on April 27, 1584 and landed on July 13 on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.…
