Athletes get paid a lot of money, millions in fact! But then again, are they really worth it? Some Americans think that athletes don’t deserve all this money. Why? They should be important right? Well let’s think about this about this for a little while. First and foremost, let’s think about their salary. A professional athlete’s salary is between the two million and five million dollar range. An average income for a family is fifty-four thousand dollars. An athlete’s is way bigger than an average family’s. Let me explain how this is unfair, for example, if a person works until they are seventy, they still won’t make as much as Tom Brady’s yearly salary, which is thirty-six million dollars! Athletes get paid for playing games while there are other people who save lives and people. Detectives and police officers who capture criminals. Farmers who grow thousands of acres of food for us to eat. Scientists who create medicines to heal people. Soldiers that fight for our country when we are in need. Think about it, many people do other jobs to help and possibly save people. Do athletes deserve all that money just for playing games while other people’s work is far more important? Furthermore, think about the other people and their jobs. To be more specific, nurses dedicate their lives to save and cure people, but they never make as much money as athletes. Another example is, firefighters who charge into burning unstable buildings to save kids never make that much in a lifetime. Also, the president who runs and helps the entire country, doesn’t make that much. So how is that fair for people to risk and dedicate their lives to their jobs and never get as much as athletes
