Some may agree, and most of them make a compelling point as to why they shouldn’t. Some of these points are because the athletes get paid already in scholarships and specific aids. As Rebecca Zissou states in the article, “Fair Play: Should College Athletes Get Paid?” "Many top players receive tuition, books, tutoring, housing, meals, clothing, elite coaching, medical care, travel expenses, and career counseling. " What she fails to mention is that most of these things that the athletes receive only cover a small portion of the actual whole cost of living and learning, and being sheltered, and traveling; the list could go on.…

But is more evident that no time soon will colleges be paying student athletes, there are multiple reasons why it will not work. Although Reed Karaim makes some valid points the NCAA cannot pay all college athletes. It is clear that, in addition to their academic course loads, student-athletes’ physical conditioning, practice, travel and competition schedules make it difficult for many of them to take on part-time employment to supplement their institutional aid as do other students, but they took on that responsibility when they continued to compete; but student athlete’s should not be…

Well the answer to that question really is not that much. In 2010 the average net revenue of division one college football was 3.15 million, but 43 percent of the schools in division one had an average net revenue of 2.87 million in losses (Chua). This is because the schools that play in the bowl games end up spending more to play the football games then what they would make in the end. So after all the money is distributed over the college for paying the coaches and paying for equipment and other things in their sport programs there would be nothing left.…
