There is a large amount of literature that explains the mentioned vicious cycle that micromanaging creates. Sandra Collins and Kevin Collins mention that although there is a place for micromanagement, such as training new employees, the long-term costs are “high staff turnover, low employee morale, reduction of productivity” among others. The article goes as far as to say that micromanaging is among the top reasons for employees to resign. A person like Dr. Jones should have, a profound self-assessment of her management style. While she improves her management skills, it is a good idea to create an employee manual for them to follow procedures.
