What is it in ads that just grabs a viewers eyes, is it the words or is it the pictures that draw attention to the ad? A WD-40 ad that grasps my attention uses the words more effectively so than the few pictures on the page that tie into the words. Advertisements today often draw in their viewers with big bold printed words next to pictures. The companies that sell these products make the ad relative to groups of people. In today’s society, we see a lot of ads pointing to sexual or patriotism to attain people’s interest. The ad makes one think inappropriately, but it also makes one remember the ad. The title of this fake ad started off stating, “Do You Have TIGHT NUTS or A RUSTY TOOL?” and this phrase made me among other viewers remember this ad. Now when WD-40 heard about this ad and saw it on Facebook, the companies only remarks about the ad was, “Awesome”(“WD-Naughty” ). The company may not have made this ad, but it helps them sell the product. Viewers are more likely to remember the product by the dirty direction that the pseudo ad

It is evident that the focal point of this ad is the male shirtless body. After considering the fact that the ad is for body wash it makes sense that the male figure is shirtless. In modern society this man represents what a “perfect male” would look like and has a dramatic affect on both male and female audience. The male figure’s physical presence shows masculinity, with features such as defined abs and muscles, broad shoulders, and a burly, bearded face. The pathos in this advertisement are very important because there are very few words in the advertisement so you mostly have to go off emotions. Most women who would see this advertisement would just see the abused women with the man lurking in the background getting ready to bribe the women with nice things and automatically feel like women are being undermined as usual and sympathy for what the women is going through. The advertisement also holds ethos in it, some men who look at the expertly dressed man might feel empowerment towards this advertisement. A man who looks at the man in the advertisement might like the…

Similar to the last technique the Echo ad also has questions in a circular pattern around the text. This work by showing the reader of the ad all of the questions a person can ask the Echo and presumably get answers to.…
