Sometimes it is hard to treat people with respect and dignity when they do not treat you with the same respect you give them. Patients often times under estimate nurses because they do not hold the same title as a doctor. Many people are in pain and allow their emotions to control their thoughts. There are occasions when patients can become verbally disrespectful. As nurse we have to look pass that pastor who has HIV who preaches about infidelity and non marital sex. Nurse have to bypass that criminal who may have murder someone and now need help saving his life, a poor mother of two who can barely afford health care.
