Particularly, a constantly evolving environment is significant in the workplace since it will be the factor allowing the nurse to expand their knowledge by providing them with modern technological advances. In addition, the colleague within the workplace environment is crucial in the success of a nurse. With supportive and positive minded colleagues, one will sense security in their environment. Having a delightful environment to practice nursing is a remedy for the nurse to have an enhanced attitude, which in essence, the nurse is able to provide exceptional quality care to the patient. As for the patients, an organized and trustworthy hospital environment will make them feel secure and satisfied with the care they received. One of the experiences I have had is when a patient needed to go to the bedside bathroom, but could not make it and pooped all over my scrubs. At that moment, the patient was very embarrassed, but I remained calm and cleaned her up. Keeping in mind, as a nurse, I needed to be a comforter, I reassured the patient accidents do occur and it is normal. In addition, when working with the elderly patients, I enjoy being able to listen to the stories they share. I also showed integrity when a nurse asked me to give out IV meds that I did not prepare, I simply declined in a respectful manner because I did not feel comfortable doing so. Diversity is also important value that I am very honor to possess, I had this older Japanese patient that I had to do an EKG on in the ER, knowing that Japanese female are very modest about showing their skin, I asked her if it was okay for me to lift up her shirts and if it was okay that her friends remain in the room while I do it.
