Nursing has an indispensable role to play in the well being of any society. It has its roots well planted in its commitment to serve individuals, groups, and community at large. The delivery of quality individualized patient care within the confines of well-defined ethical standards has come to define nursing.

When I completed my ADN program, my self- image as at that time revolves around being fair to other; treat others, as I will love to be treated. I exhibit distinct learning styles. For example, my learning preference tends toward teamwork, and use of technology. I also notice that my eagerness to work collaboratively has been an advantage for me. As a result of RN-BSN my therapeutic communications with patients has improved. Nursing is predominantly seen as a process of caring and developing patient relationships (Chitty & Black, 2007, p. 330-331). My present image of the role of nursing is nursing is selfless at its core; it is caring and compassionate, and assists the ill to a state of optimum health. As a result of RN-BSN program my attitude towards nursing and patients in general is now with one distinct aim of providing care and helping as much as I can in aiding the recovery process. Also I now establish and maintain professional boundaries with each of my patient. To achieve my goals in the next five and ten years, an additional student loan may be needed and reduction in salary due to time needs to achieve the Nurse practitioner degree and nursing certifications. As a mother and wife, a nurse, I will need my family moral support to achieve these goals.
