My nursing practice still holds true to the main reason that I chose to become a nurse, which was because I have an overwhelming love and compassion for helping others in their time of need. It warms my heart to know that I made a difference in someone else’s life by just sitting down and allowing them to talk without interruption. Making patients feel better by giving them a bath with dignity and privacy, or getting them fresh ice water are just little things and may not matter to one person but may be everything to another. According to (Crosta, 2015), Nurses strive to achieve the best possible quality of life for their patients, regardless of disease or disability. When writing my goals in Transition to Professional Nursing, my two years goals were to finish my RN-BSN.…

After working as a computer programmer for 13 years, I found myself without a job when I was laid off as jobs were outsourced to countries outside of the United States. I thought it would be relatively easy to find another job, but soon found the market was saturated with new graduates willing to do the same work for less money. I decided to get my CNA license and work in the medical field. I loved working with patients and decided to jump back into school and pursue a degree in nursing. Although there have been nights with little sleep, tears, and many meals of scrambled eggs, grilled cheese, or cold cereal, I have never regretted going back.…
My supervisors and bosses would attest that they value me as a member of their team even though it has taken until now for me to pursue my BSN. Even without that coveted BSN, I have had the opportunity to educate my patients, precept student nurses, orientate new nurses and be a nurse leader on the Unit (Finkleman & Kenner, 2016, p. 85). I will not argue against the benefits, though, of nurse’s obtaining their BSN, especially since I’m pursuing my own. Some of the knowledge gained in a baccalaureate degree can be learned through experience on the job.…

As a fourth grader, my dad was in a bad car accident and his pickup rolled over him. While the rest of my family worked and helped on the farm, I was left to care for my dad. Part of the training included becoming CPR and first aid certified.…

The nursing career is a program where you need to know a series of processes that will help students, not only with the skills of knowledge to get a job; but also help them to get the goals proposed on their basic learning needs. Independently could be defined as the thinking or acting by myself, where I can get my own responsibilities, and at the end show the productivity in the situation. When I work independently my ability is that I…
