College is a necessity but it is often very expensive, I come from a single-parent home and worry about paying for college, Most colleges and universities provide their students with financial aid in the form of a single institutional scholarship and the option to either pay out of pocket, or to take out a loan. I became overwhelmed at the thought of having to take out a loan because once I enter the workforce, I would like be able to live off of my salary. Before attending high school, my elementary school teachers would talk about civic engagement, and their descriptions lead me to believe that participating in community service would be boring and burdensome. I remember my teachers saying things like,” In high school you’re going to have to do community service in order to graduate.
