College is full of many opportunities to help anyone achieve the success they want, with endless amount of support and resources it can be difficult or overwhelming for some students to decide which one is best for them. Unfortunately, many individuals will not get to experience college because they cannot afford the tuition. Since higher education cost thousands of dollars many students pay their tuition by participating in organizations, sports, doing a work-study, and many other things. This group could help spread the word by having fundraising events. They could go to school related events where they would advertise the organization by having raffles, questionnaires, refreshments and providing information about the organization itself. This would encourage a vast amount of students to do more research on scholarships themselves. With this idea, it best shows and utilize the way scholars can be promoted tour students to broaden their horizon without Excluding students based on race, gender, or classification.

An another way we can promote the organization is by allowing them to make their own social media foundation. Instead of having a group of teachers figuring out how to involve students it would be a group of students trying to reach their friends or peers. The social media foundation can include Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Since most students don’t even take a second look at their email this group will use other resources listed previously to bring attention to scholarships for students to be more achievable in their education without the struggle to search through a pool of unorganized mail. So, by making this social media foundation, this will help have a more prominent outreach towards students by allowing them to find them on any platform that is available to them to explore on their own. With the help of Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook scholarship information can be streamed

“Homeless on Campus” In the magazine article “Homeless on Campus”, Bader uses pathos and ethos to help inform the audience about the plight of homeless college students, and bring them to attention. The article was mainly directed at college administrators and educators, and secondly to people who worked in financial aid. For the college administrators and educators, this would help bring attention to their homeless and poverty ridden students and to persuade them to do more to help them out. For the financial aid advisors, it would convince them to provide more options and opportunities for these students.…

Overall, I think the Corps in the Classroom campaign was a huge success. They had plenty of strengths within their campaign. For starters, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers did a lot of research which consisted of both qualitative and quantitative data from the Equal Employment Opportunity report, which evaluated STEM involvement levels for that year. Not to mention their secondary research, which included reports from the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, the National Academy of Sciences and others. Additionally, they had a well thought out plan that not only consisted of realistic and achievable objectives, but also well thought out tactics to support those objectives.…

‘Until we get equality in education, we won’t have an equal society’, this was a statement made by Sonia Sotomayor which I have believed for a while now. With this present situation We, the black population, are posed with some questions. How are we going to achieve equality with respect to what Sonia Sotomayor said? How are we going to increase the number of black successful graduates?…

An example of an outreach effort that I conducted to an unreached group at the University of Maine was one focused on Greek Life students. When arriving at UMaine it came to my attention that the IV chapter there had been trying to reach the Greek students on campus but hadnt been very sucessful. This is a group of students who I have a special heart for and knew that the mutual nenifitial relationship they could have with the IV chapter. I first had a conversation with the IV staff Jon Kennerson about how I would be speaking at our regions Greek getaway later in the semester and I would love to try to get some Greek students from Maine to be able to attend. We talked about ideas I had about reaching the students, a goal for how many I would like to ideally brign to the…

Accomplishments: Jacob Kraybill introduced 4 programs that are running by MIssion Graduates, and we chose Parent Partner Program as our main focus during the summer. During the project we first learn how an “in -kind” donation letter should be like, and draft one for Mission Graduates’ outreach. In the letter, we try to write appropriately and get closer to the donor. On the other hand, the goal of the outreach is to get incentive tickets for our parents in the Parent Partner Program and also to get children's games and other activities that can go into the Parent Rooms at each of their schools. Therefore, the next step was to research different places in San Francisco that could potentially offer us these things.…

For the past year I have been VP Programming for the Collegiate Panhellenic Council and at the very start of my term on the council a Risk Summit was called for by the University. The Risk Summit was called because of the number of sexual assaults and hazing cases reported to the University by Greek Members with the looming threat that the University would shut down Greek Life if we did not change and fast. I was extremely disappointed and disgusted by the issues that were made clearly evident in my community, but found the silver lining in that, due to the extremity of our case, change was forced and made a priority. I desperately wish the issues that infiltrated and still infiltrate my community were addressed earlier, however, I am proud to say I was and am a part of the change. As a part of the council I assisted and often headed the change, including our improvement of educational workshops to be more relevant and…

One of WUSC’s key strength is that students from almost all fields of studies can get involved. However, the challenge is finding ways to motivate student volunteers to join and stay with the campus branch, and competing with other campus groups for volunteers. A good way to motivate them is to provide them incentives. Students get involved in building their resume and make friends. As such, the WUSC campus support team would provide references, awards for achievements, and the ability to network with individuals in their field of study for those who get involved with the campus…

Introduction Student Affairs and all the division it encompasses is often considered the “fun” department at a university. This is because many of those professionals who strive to work and study the field of student affairs are energetic and engaging. They strive to make the college experience both educational and impactful. Students who are involved are more likely to excel in the classroom, have lower drop out rates and continue on with education at the professional level. While student affairs does not issue grades or give test; it can teach students just as much as the classroom environment does.…
