I will ensure my patients’ safety by always performing good hand hygiene, using two identifiers for the patient, and utilizing my skill of therapeutic communication to establish a nurse-patient relationship. I believe that getting to know the patient’s background and history, and showing the patient that you want to learn about them and their preferences proves that you are compassionate in your care. It will make the patient feel safer and will allow them to open up and tell you things that might be crucial to their care that they may have otherwise kept to themselves because they weren’t comfortable.
