Every teen hears about that one girl/ boy who was in an accident because she/ he was texting, or some other form of distracted driving. Distracted Driving is heard about first through driver 's education. Some people believe that just educating the teens will be enough to stop them from driving while they are distracted, however even with the education they have acquired there is still accidents involving distractions. “1 in 4; The probability that a motor vehicle crash involved a cellphone” (Schumaker). 1 in 4 crashes that is a very high probability. Most teenagers don’t understand how bad that ratio really is. Teens would answer this by saying it is not their age group, that it is the young adults. While this may be partially true, “ten percent of all drivers 15-19 years old involved in fatal crashes were reported as distracted at the time of the crashes” (Stop Texts Stop Wrecks). “As of February 2015, 44 States, DC, Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands ban text messaging for all drivers. All but 5 have primary enforcement” ("Stop Texts Stop Wrecks."). It is a very good thing that states have banned texting while driving, but how does it help if the laws are not enforced.
