The editorial “Making Texting While Driving Look Unacceptably Stupid” explains that distracted driving can be a life altering route that drivers do not want to travel down. In this editorial it explains how the National Highway Traffic Safety report tells that 87 percent of drivers will admit to risky behaviors that include distracted driving. Distracted driving can be anything that allows a person to take their hands off the wheel for a second. With a second a disaster could happen at any moment and it is growing to the top cause of car accidents. I myself have experienced an accident due to distracted driving that involved the use of a cellphone. This situation that happened I did however learn some valuable lesson that have stuck in my head …show more content…
I would say the worst part was having to call my mother to explain to her that I was in a car accident a couple blocks from the house in her car. When she answered she instantly started to yell thinking it was my fault until I told her what happened. My mom then had to find a ride from someone to rush over to the location I was at. She arrived and the first thing she does is look at the car, but wasn’t too upset anymore because the bumper was already cracked from another accident. My mother walked up to the girl’s car to see the damage but didn’t have nothing wrong with it. My mother then seen she was pregnant and calmed down from being angry. She told the girl to go to the hospital and to rest and make sure the baby was alright. We weren’t going to call the cops or involved insurance because there was no damage to the cars. The girl and her baby’s life were more important than the car at that time so we both went on are …show more content…
I told my mother that I just wanted to hurry home to lay down. On are short car ride home I sat in the passage seat thinking about the car accident and how dangerous distracted driving can be. After that point I instantly was thinking about the lesson that I learned from the situation that just happened. I learned that it is never a great idea to take eyes off the road for even a second. The lady being on her cellphone was not a great idea. It ended up being a dangerous encounter involving someone that was not distracted. I had all my attention giving the other driver signals that I would turn soon, and it didn’t end up being a good
