International students might facing some problems when they left home and study in a foreign country, problems of ’culture shock’ surely are what international students faced. Culture shock describes the impact of moving from a familiar culture to one which is unfamiliar. It is an experience described by people who have travelled abroad to work, live or study (UKCISA,23 August 2013). This essay will analysis the problems of culture shock and find out the solutions.
Language is a main issue for international students, learning a new language which is take time and tiring, some international students have trouble understanding the lecture and reading materials (From the web of University of Washington).In my experiments, when I first came to UK, it was extremely nervous to communicate with the English speaking people. However, I done much better now by listening the British students’ dialogues. Practice some English exercise and read more English newspapers also is a good ways to solve this problem. The next problem of culture shock should be social role; social behaviours may confuse surprise or offend international students. For example you may find people appear cold, distant or always in a hurry.
