VidCon has been around for six years now and continues to grow. The marketing strategies they use, definitely lean heavily on the creators that will be in attendance. While you will not see many ads on television you will see plenty on the internet, manly YouTube. This means that when a YouTube creator or Vine star decides that they are going to attend VidCon they promote it in what seems like every video they do, before the event takes place. VidCon also has its website where you can keep up-to-date on who will be attending and what times panels, Q & A’s, networking sessions, concerts and smaller events will be happening. Twenty-five of these sponsor sponsored specific things such as the lanyards, VidCon app & charging stations, gift bags, interview stage, community stages, and booths. These sponsors range from HGTV, Vine, Canon and CoverGirl, there is true a broad spectrum of sponsors. But the four main sponsors of the event were the Title Sponsor YouTube, which has been the title sponsor for the last two years (Prweb.com), the Main Stage Sponsor which was Kia Motors America, the Movie Night Sponsor Fullscreen media company, and the Festival Sponsor AwesomenessTV. (VidCon 2015) The benefit that these sponsors receive from the event is connecting with the young fans in an article from the Los Angeles Times it said “selfie’s are nice but teen what business advice.”(Hamedy) This gives all the brands and businesses sponsoring the event a chance to connect with all these young people, and teach them what they know. It was also stated that “the connection with young fans is also drawing companies who see VidCon as a marketing tool. Teenage years are when people decide what brands they like, so it 's a great time to win customers for life.”(Hamedy) VidCon allows so many connections and bonds to be made between brands and attendees of the event that it keeps them coming back. So to approach a company such as Facebook, “who recently announced its plans to share video ad revenue with content creators, was a main topic of discussion for everyone,” ("VidCon 2015: What Really Happened?") it can be seen that Facebooks is in the process of become congruent with the ideals of the event. While VidCon is all about online videos Facebook does essentially align with what the event it all about. There are many ways to share content on Facebook, but they will still need to create something where creators can track and know the demographics of who is watching. With YouTube you can see who is watching, for how long, and all the view of the video, along with what was mention above, being compensated for their content produced. Facebook seems to be acquiring many other social media outlets one such being Instagram, I think that in time in will try to outdo or create it’s on type of Facebook YouTube to compete with Googles YouTube. As for other attaining other sponsors for the event, it really comes down to knowing your audience, what will be beneficial for them and also what they want to learn.
