The nurses on the floor being affected play an important role because they help monitor the implementation. The nurses are the ones who would use the spirituality assessment on the patients. To ensure the spirituality assessments are being used, we would have to continuously monitor the charting system, to see if the nurses are using the assessment it would be charted. With the assessment being charted we would be able to look at the affect it is having on the patient as well. It would be important for nursing managers to continuously communicate with the nurses to use the assessment and monitor if they are doing so as well. When implementing change, it is important to use of the nurses to help the change stay current on the floor. It is a complex topic and it is important they are trained how to address the topic to keep the patient open-minded about the assessment being included in their treatment plan. I would make sure all barriers are being addressed such as the ethical dilemmas and the nurses being close minded to the idea of focusing on spirituality as a crucial part of their treatment plan. It is essential these are all addressed and continue to be an addressed as long as it is in practice. Change needs to be monitored because these continue to change.
Conclusion
When initiating change all stakeholders need to work together to help make sure the change is sustained in practice. Sustaining change is the goal of integrating change into practice, introducing the change is just the first step, but there is a continuous step which is the most essential if it is to be sustained.
