Diversity in the work force is very important in today’s society. Having a diverse workplace can open up new ideas and competitiveness. One of the biggest leading global companies in diversity is Xerox. Xerox has been around for many years and the culture continues to evolve with different people through their work and dedication for Xerox products (Uhl-Bien, M., Schermerhorn, J. R., & Osborn, R. Xerox believes that diversity is the key for their success for years. It focuses on a diverse environment in which it does not matter what age, race, or background you may come from because creativity is inside of everyone. They also believe that people from different backgrounds challenge each other. With over fifty percent of women and minorities making up their workforce, Xerox is on the path to a bright future using different people to maintain their technology services. In this case study I learned the importance of diversity in the workforce. Diversity has opened the door for innovation for Xerox by providing them with different cultures where everyone is welcome despite their sexual orientation, race, sex or religion. Diversity is not look upon as a bad thing with Xerox, it is the driving force of their business and it keeps them up to date with fresh new ideas. For instance, Xerox hired women who were seen as home makes and not as skilled workers and provided them with the skills and knowledge to perform their duties, but also recognized that they needed to balance work and family so they instituted the concept of "flex time". Xerox believed that women should not be victims of leaking pipeline and leadership double bind preventing them from moving forward and upward in their careers showing them to be weak. For example, Ursula Burns is the first African American female to become president of Xerox in two 2007. Xerox shows it stands by diverse workforce policies (Uhl-Bien, M., Schermerhorn, J.
