Leader-Member Exchange theory as seen in the text is described as a type of leadership where the leader focuses on a dyadic, that is ,the relationship between a leader and each team member considered independently, rather than on the relationship between leader and the group. usually, a team member can be an In-group if team members prove themselves loyal and trustworthy or an out-group if team members betray and does not agree with the leader. Working with the In-group members allows the leader to accomplish more tasks in a more effective manner. Also, In-group members are willing to do more than is required in their job description while out-group member act quite differently, they operate strictly within their prescribed job often and nothing more. …show more content…
Tom was always willing to go an extra mile in making sure that things are done the way Don wanted it without reservation. Also, some of my classmates talked about Michael and his crew were an in-group when they murdered his sister”s husband and the wife and sister were the out-group. Furthermore, some of my classmates believes that Don was not effective leader in his family because he never had a foresight of the future of his family. Some people observed Michael as an emergent leader, very courageous and intelligent, he was productive in the manner he arranged to take charge of the security of his father at the hospital when he recognised that leaving him alone without security will be risky. In addition, some other group observed Fredo as a weak man that is not smart and lack the capability of ever being a leader and some other group observed that Sonny as a hot tempered man that has no reasoning which led to his untimely death. Similarly, we all agreed that Virgil Sollozzo is very harmful and an initiator of every evil
