Valentine's Day: The Love Of My Life

It was 8 PM on a Friday evening. It was foggier than usual, but it was still a very nice night. Today was valentines day and I was taking a cab home from the airport where I work to my house in Brooklyn. A majority of my friends got the day off today but unfortunately not myself. Valentines day is one of my favourite times of the year and it was very disappointing that I could not get the day off. Valentines day is bittersweet for me. I met the love of my life a few years ago on this day. His name was Tom. He was always dressed in nice clothing, there was this one shirt that he wore that I really loved. It had stripes all over it. Unfortunately, it shattered my heart to pieces when I learnt that he was cheating on me for 6 months. The worst part of this is that I caught him in the act. After I ended it with Tom I always got a message from him saying, “Shannon I still love you.” I was not going to put up with this, a man who loves me so much would not have cheated on me. It has been a year now since we split and he is still trying to get me back. Tom is sending love letters, chocolates and gifts to my house. I caught him waiting outside my house one day. This terrified me because as the months have passed Tom is getting worse and worse and starting to follow me around everywhere. I got so paranoid and scared that I am in the process of getting a restraining order put against him. It is stressful because you never know what he could do next.
