This year, we wanted new experiences and freedom from our parents, so Downtown Raleigh was the move. It was only about a 30 minute drive from home. While we were riding through the city, we played loud music and took in the great winds from outdoors. Downtown, we danced, ate colored food, and socialize. There were also fireworks. That was my favorite part and the main reason why most people come. After having a late night, eating junk food, and mingling; we sat at the waterfall benches where we talked and laughed about high school memories. The night started to die down. It was getting pretty chilly out, and we were starting to get bored. It was almost 2 o’clock in the morning and our curfew was quickly approaching. We walked to my car and said our goodbyes to the classmates who also came out to view the fireworks. I spent the night at Me’Cha’s house because her home was the nearest from Downtown Raleigh. While on our way home, we got the chance to view families still popping fireworks outside of their homes. We pulled into the rocky driveway of my best friend’s residence, and next, we headed to the bedroom where we stayed up all night having what it seemed to be like, endless conversations about boyfriends, our friendship, and the separation we would soon have to deal with when the month of
