"One does not always know which career path one should seek." My path in high school led me to the “pharmacy” field where, steered by family influence, started working in a pharmacy and chose to study pharmacy in college.

I started working in a corporate retail pharmacy under the tutelage of a great Pharmacist, who took me under his wing and mentored me. I now work in an independent pharmacy which is quite patient oriented. One special patient has touched my life profoundly. I recall the first time I fitted her for a brace. I simply touched her shoulder while she conveyed her hardships and battle with cancer. By attentively listening and caring while tending to her needs, I provided her with more than just retail assistance. She gazed at me with a smile and a tear, and I knew, that she had touched my life greater than I touched hers.

I have gained a cavalcade of knowledge during my seven years as a pharmacy technician. Filling prescriptions, conversing with doctors and insurance companies, handling drug abusers, recognizing phony prescriptions, taking blood pressures, fitting braces, listening to patients ' concerns and offering solutions to health questions, has led me to want to be a real hands-on…
