My Middle School Career

Every sports fanatic wishes that they could go back and replay their sports years again. But in my case, mine were just starting. Going into the sixth grade, I was nervous because I wanted to be the best of the best. On in the first day of sixth grade, we had a meeting to see who wanted to be in volleyball. Going into this meeting, I was getting nervous. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to play sports, because my class was going to be on the bottom of the totem pole. Not feeling any of the other girl’s feelings, I went with my gut feeling, go out! Getting into the sports season was a different adjustment. Every day prior to sixth grade, going home was the norm. Taking this big jump and deciding to do sports meant I had to stay every day besides Wednesday to practice. Being so little, I didn’t know if I was ready to make that big commitment. I stayed with the flow of girls that decided to do volleyball too and went with it. I am super proud of my decision, because to this day, I know I would have regretted if I didn’t do it. Throughout my entire middle school career, I have had so many memories that have taught me so many lessons in life. …show more content…
When I was a seventh grader, I traveled to Winner to run in the Winner Warrior Invite. This track meet was a terrible one. It rained the entire day and even thundered a little bit, so we had to go in the tent, while the storm was passing. When we were sent to our tent, I was scared to go far in. I was scared, because the seniors were really strict with the younger classmen. I had set my bag in the tent to keep it from getting wet, and a senior had thrown it into the trench that our tent was balancing over. Another thing they did was cuss a lot and for my little ears, that was too much. I was standing in the pouring rain, with my soaking wet bag, until Mr. Stukel yelled at them, because they made Jacey Feyereisen and I

I walked into Neil Armstrong Middle School's gym, nervous as can be, not ready for basketball tryouts. The only reason I was there was because my dad and sister wanted me to play. I also wanted to play a sport this year, but I didn't think it would be basketball. It was so loud it sounded like someone was yelling in my ear and playing music at the same time. We started doing lay-up drills, I missed so many compared to the other girls.…

Little did they know that I was going to fall in love with the game and that they were going to have to spend countless hours at softball fields during the spring each year watching me play. Being so young when I first started playing, winning and losing did not matter at all. As long as I got to throw, hit, and catch the ball, I was happy.…

Starting first grade I thought we were the top dogs because we got moved down to the bigger playground with the bigger kids. Since they knew we liked kick ball so much they built a kick ball diamond for us. There was just so much to do in the shortest amount of time. Everyday was a new day, I never did the same thing, whether it was playing on the upper part on the monkey bars seeing who could hang the longest or playing football with the guys. I can remember my first year at kickball I was taller than most of the guys because they haven’t hit their growth spurt yet, so everyone wanted me on their team because I was the only girl once again that was better than most of the guys.…

Stepping onto the soccer pitch for the first time, my heart pounded with adrenaline causing my hands to tremble. I looked towards my teammates to find where to stand as the newly memorized rules jumbled around in my head. As the referee blew the starting whistle, I mustered up the confidence and courage from within to play amongst my new found family. I kept my hands close to my sides in a last ditch effort to fight my natural inclination to swing my arms at the ball, like the years of tennis and baseball had taught me. Here I stood, ready to prove the skeptics wrong; a sixteen-year-old could start playing soccer without any prior experience.…
